Strategies to curb the overeating this holiday season...

  1. Don't starve yourself while waiting for that evening party to start. Small, light meals through the day will keep you satisfied so you don't gorge at the party.
  2. Scour that buffet table, know what is offered and then make wise choices. Put your food on a small plate and sit down to eat it. No nibbling!!
  3. Slow down. Put your fork down in between bites to help with this. If you eat too fast, your body won't register that it is full and seconds may get very tempting.
  4. Be prepared. If you are headed out for a day of Christmas shopping, pack a few snacks such as fruit, veggies, nuts, low fat string cheese, etc.
  5. Curb the alcohol. I know, that's a hard one when everyone else is drinking. Sparkling water or Sparlking cider are great. Oh yeah, egg nog needs to be left in the decanteur and careful the punch, it's usually spiked this time of year.
  6. Set a good example. If you are hosting the party, impress your friends/colleagues with a healthy spread. It will look absolutely great with all the different colors that no one will notice it is good for them!!
  7. Stay active. The social calendar is enough to stress anyone this year. Don't forget to maintain your workout schedule. Now is the most important time to be diligent. It will keep the pounds off and the stress at bay.
Happy Holidays From Kaye and Mandy!
